Baton Rouge Bucket List Summer 2023

Hey y'all, hey. This is my second summer in Baton Rouge and I spent most of last summer working in Los Angeles, this summer I hope to spend more time exploring the capitol city and seeing what summer hot girl activities there are here. Now that I actually know a few people, hopefully, they'll be more opportunities to explore that way too.

DRINKS IN BATON ROUGE

Let's start with some dranks. And don't correct the spelling, I know what I said. Now listen 👂 I'm not a big drinker, so you alcoholics looking for a bunch of alcohol are about to be real sad.

Matcha Rain from Social Coffee

I've been DYING to try this since I saw it on Maameefua's Instagram page in like December of last year. Now one thing about me, I love a matcha something, as long as there's no milk in it. I can actually check this off my bucket list because I tried it the other day!

I wish it was a little sweeter than it was, but I will still a fan. This drink is matcha, Topo Chico, vanilla syrup, and lime juice. I wish I could taste a little more of the other flavors because the Topo Chico is strong but if you're a fan of matcha, I would def say give this a try.

Martinis from 13th Social

13th Social has a girl's night every Friday night where they have $7 martinis. Another thing bout me is that I LOVE a good deal, meaning that one of these Friday nights, you can catch me at the bar sipping on my girl's night martinis. Purr.

Fruit tea from Teatery

I've had drinks from Teatery before but I want to go out of my comfort zone a bit and try something other than the 🍓 fruit tea 🫖

I'm actually interested in trying their Vietnamese coffee especially since I haven't had one that's as good as the one from Sugar Mill Confections. Let's see if Teatery will give Michelle a run for her money.

Honey I Dew Freeze from Honey Dew Sips and Savory

This is a Black-owned coffee/tea truck. It is so cute and we love a Black-owned business in this house. They have regular iced coffees and teas and their signature freeze is called a Honey I Dew freeze. It's offered in a variety of flavors and girl I'll be there for the pop-ups to try them all.

THINGS TO DO THIS SUMMER IN BATON ROUGE

Now this here list ain't made with family in mind, so jot that down. I'm a single, child-free twenty-something, so that's the demographic. Parents, the partnered and others, think twice before taking my advice.

Well technically this is family friendly but whatever, I like a good water activity, especially in south Louisiana.

I'm really in it for the swimming pool. I'll try my best to get here on a day where there are fewer people (and kids). I plan on hitting that lazy river like a lazy river has never been hit before. There's some slides but it's not a huge water park like Blue Bayou, it's more of a little community thing, which is enough for me to have fun. If you like big, grand rides and slides, this probably won't be the place for you.

Obscure Market is exactly what it sounds like, a market where you can get obscure things. This is for people who like the darker, stranger, quirkier things in life. You can find weird art and oddities here. This spooky art market is right up my alley and definitely on my bucket list. Obscure market is coming to Brickyard this July 15!

I love me a farmer's market meaning that I will be purchasing that farm fresh produce all summmaaaa. Personally I feel like I eat more produce when I buy it from the farmer's market. I don't know the science behind that. I simply LOVE the vibe of going there, getting a fresh iced coffee and scone and perusing the fresh vegetables and fruits.

The market will be doing Fresh Fest 2023 where each week they highlight a different produce at the Saturday market. I know I'm old because I'm too hyped for peach week, so when I eat forty peaches in one week, no one be surprised.

I hear such great things about Gail's I just never go on this side of town. They say the menu is always changing but there's twelve year round flavors. I'm not usually a big ice cream girly but catch me in Gail's getting some of Baton Rouge's finest ice cream.

I'd see Ninja Snowballs every time I passed by Milford Wampold park but for some reason I never stopped. If you're a south Louisiana girly, chances are you were probably raised on snowcones. We had a snowcone stand down our road growing up and we put some miles on our legs making the walk for one.

I don't care how grown I get, I'll never be too old for a snowcone, ESPECIALLY a stuffed snowcone ya heard.

Now I've heard of this but mind you, I don't really know what the hell it is. It definitely gives those vibes of a secret party that no one has the location to until someone sends out a mass text the hour before it starts. I think it's some kind of rave-type party that happens once a month. I'm missing the June one as we speak but hopefully I can catch next month's and see what that's about.

My freeennnn who I mentioned earlier, Maameefua, was posting what looked like a real good time at Edge Lounge and I have to say I wanted a part of it. The lounge looks very upscale which is right up my alley as a bougie bitch so I hope to be making a stop there over the summer.

I think that's all I have for Baton Rouge this summer, but if something else pops up, I'll definitely add it to the list. Stay tuned to see how the list goes and let me know if you check any of these places out!

Love, peace and chicken grease,

Kaitlan 💋
